Trade Quarter

The Trade Quarter
The Market
Andovale's market is the place to go for fresh produce. However, it's also known for its rather more unusual stalls that show up once in a while, usually never to appear again.

It's extremely chaotic and loud, with stall holders shouting their wares everywhere you turn. The paths between the stalls are also extremely narrow so on the market's busiest days you'll likely have to fight your way through a little.
Jolly Nice
If there was any food that was all the rage during the Regency Era, it was ice cream - or "icy cream" as they sometimes referred to it.

So of course any decent rip-off Georgian city has to have a cafe that specialises in the stuff. Although Jolly Nice's selection of flavours is a little more varied than your standard Regency ice cream place. In fact pretty much any ice cream or sorbet flavour you can possibly think of will mysteriously always be in stock whenever you so desire it. As well as these flavours, Jolly Nice is also renowned for its "special flavours" which are sold periodically. Caution: May come with side-effects.

Oh and one more thing, the proprietor appears to be a faun. Nobody else comments on it though so neither should you. That would just be rude.
Apothecary
Plants, pestles, and potions, all bundled together in one nice, tidy place! The town's apothecary is an admirable one, always filled to bursting with fresh shipments of rosemary and thyme. Generally, these plants can be found just outside the town's walls within the soft forest by the sea. Within, a curious and brave soul can find all sorts of healing medicines. Toadstools for colds, herbal teas for headaches.

The entire feeling of the place is academic and warm, with healers heard at work with researching the latest cure-all concoction.
Modiste
For all of your dressmaking needs. The Modiste specialises in only the finest gowns. Everything is custom made to your measurements and to accentuate your assets, there is no such thing as "off the rack" here.

We should mention here that proper Regency era dresses would have been made in more sedate and muted shades. However, subtlety isn't exactly Pheme's thing... in Andovale you can have your dresses made in whatever shade you fancy.
The Armory
How else is a well-respected gentlemen expected to stay at arms without an armory a short stroll away?

The armorer keeps the place good and stocked with the most basic of needs that'll do in a pinch. The sabers and swords he keeps on hand are more for light fencing that for serious battles. If you're looking for heavy-duty damage, you'll have to talk to a blacksmith about that. Sir Barnes, the simple shopkeeper doesn't want that kind of trouble.
Darcy Clothing
Want to look as dapper as Ms Austen's most famous gent? Darcy's Clothing is here for all of your suit related needs.

As well as ridiculously tight breeches. Hey, at least your bum looks great.

As with the Modiste's shop, all attire here can be made in any colour or shade you desire.
Mayfair
The place to dine in Andovale if you really want to push the boat out and impress that special someone. Just remember to take a chaperone or heavens, what will people think?

Kidding. Nobody has to do anything by conventional regency standards in Andovale but it may set some tongues wagging if you don't.

This establishment is as upmarket as it gets for eating here and you will want to dress your very best, otherwise it may be that you're refused entry. If you're looking for a light meal this definitely isn't the right place and you'll be served course after course of rich regency fare, regardless of whether you actually asked for a small meal or not. The staff are out to impress here. Roasted meats and stodgy puddings are the norm. Veggie provisions can certainly be made if your character requires it, this isn't your typical regency town after all.
Mysterious Rock Pool
Among the hustle and bustle of the trade quarter sits an idyllic pool of sea creatures. Jellyfish, sting rays, and sea urchins are just a few of the creatures that can be found within. All of the creatures appear happy and healthy despite their surroundings.

Where did this pond come from? What's it doing here? How can these sea creatures survive in the middle of the busy city?

It's a strange place for a spot of nature, that's for sure, but it's a nice seat for a bit of respite after an evening of shopping.
Housing
The Trade Quarter has the following choices of housing:
The Grand Crescent
The Grand Crescent is where everyone is housed upon arrival. It's a huge sweeping crescent shaped arrangement of traditional Regency era style townhouses.

The houses are assigned at random but residents are free to move around and arrange themselves as they like if they have an alternative preference or want to live with particular people.

Each townhouse has capacity for housing 8 people - more so if you're willing to share your room.

Apartments
Traditionally the choice of the well to do Regency bachelor and ideal for those who want somewhere a little more "private" and smaller to live - although let's not kid ourselves, this era was all about excess so they're still pretty damn grand.

These comfortably house 2 to 3 people.
