Andovale - Locations

THE PALACE

Located at the center of the four quarters of the city and surrounded by the wisteria trees where characters first awaken in Andovale. Beyond those, the Palace grounds themselves are surrounded by high walls and the only way in or out of them is through a pair of huge wrought iron gates. Seemingly by some kind of magic, the walls and gates are impossible to scale or to break open in any way. The only time residents are permitted to enter is when our benevolent hostess decides to host a soirée or other extravagant event and invite the ton in.

TRADE QUARTER

Located in the North-East of the city, the Trade Quarter is where the majority of the city's various businesses are located. It is here you can purchase the latest in Regency Era fashion (gotta love an unflatteringly high waisted dress) or even indulge in the newest gastronomic marvel that is "ices" - ice cream to you and me. There is also a market here every Saturday selling fresh baked goods and produce. Occasionally a more unusual stall might show up.

ACADEMIC QUARTER

The North-West's Academic Quarter is home to the only building that can even remotely rival the Palace for its grandiosity, The Academy. Locals will tell that the institution was once known for only educating those from the wealthiest, upper class families. However, the Academy has since taken the radical step of opening up its halls to all the new arrivals - even, heaven forbid, the female ones. This district is also home to the majority of the city's bookshops and that Regency favourite: the coffeehouse.

PLEASURE QUARTER

In the South-East, the Pleasure Quarter is where the ton goes to relax and unwind... Known for it's beautiful and expansive parkland, it also has a much seedier side. This district is also home to the city's gentleman's clubs, the majority of its more expensive drinking establishments and brothels. Even its beautiful and fashionable Pleasure Gardens have a debauched side and many a wayward couple have been caught in a compromising position here.

NAVAL QUARTER

To the South-West is the Naval Quarter. As the name suggests, it contains the city's bustling docks. It's curious that Andovale even has these, given that nobody is actually permitted to leave the city. Anyone who tries to stowaway on a ship will find that the vessel will only travel so far out before appearing right back at the docks again. The crew will seem completely oblivious to this. Leaving the main hub will bring you to jagged cliffs and a coastal path which lead to the beach.

SPECIAL LOCATIONS

Occasionally, after particularly special events, new locations may be formed by Lady Pheme or visiting gods. It's always so exciting when such a thing occurs! So much so, these special locations have their own special tab.
